I’ve tested a lot of juices and different brands with the home booze kit. The ones that stand out the most are the following:
For wine making:
The Welch grape juice totally takes the cake in this one. Their grape juice is simply phenomenal and the taste is amazing. According to these guys, their juice comes in the purest form and once you use it, you’ll truly experience it. The people at Welch have been making grape juice for quite some time now and for me, they are the true experts. If you are trying the home booze kit for the first time, then Welch is where its at and making wine with their juice using the home booze kit will get you started on the right path. To compare Welch and freshly squeezed grape juice together would be a tough call – in fact Welch actually edges out a little.
For ciders, cocktails and other mixed alcoholic drinks etc:
Pretty much anything from your grocery store in those cardboard cartons works great. Ofcourse brands like Fruiticana (especially the mixed berries and fruits) create delicious alcoholic drinks. If pure ciders is what you are after then get pure concentrated apple juice. I believe they are like 3 bucks a pop for 2 liter which is perfect for your first batch.
Stay away from:
Frozen juices. Frozen juices are great on their own but with the home booze kit, they don’t fly at all. First you need time to defrost them and when the juice is frozen (even a little bit), it undermines its mixing properties with the yeast thus creating very less to none alcohol. I tried testing frozen juices but don’t recommend them at all with the home booze kit.
Hope it helps and feel free to contact me anytime!
