Millions of people the world over and enjoy drinking wine and they tend to do so on a regular basis.  Although there are a wide variety of different wines for you to enjoy, most people really consider red wine and white wine to be the two main choices.

There has always been a certain debate as far as these two varieties of wine is concerned and red wine vs. white wine will always continue to be a matter of debate.  What is the true difference between these two varieties of wine?

It doesn’t matter what kind of wine you are drinking, it is all a product of the vine.  The real differences between red and white wine goes much further than the color, however.  Because they are made with different varieties of grapes and are grown in different areas of the world, each of them will carry its own distinct taste.

Red wine is generally considered to be a more full bodied wine and is much drier to the taste.  The white wine is a much lighter wine which can contain a variety of different flavors.  As a general rule, red wine vs. white wine comes into play whenever you are pairing it with food.

For the most part, white wine goes with the lighter meals such as white meat or fish while red wine commonly goes with red meat.  It is important for you to choose the wine that you enjoy drinking with the food, however, and not to follow a hard and fast rule if it goes against your particular taste.

Another way that red wine vs. white wine is often debated is as far as health benefits are concerned.  Since all wine is a product of grapes, it all contains much the same properties.  One of the things that all wine contains is antioxidants, something that helps to clean our bodies from free radicals which damage our cells.

Red wine contains a higher number of these antioxidants than white wine.  Another health benefit of red wine is a chemical that is known as Resveratrol which is found in the skin of red grapes but not in those that make white wine.  Resveratrol has many different benefits that may influence our cardiovascular health.  So as far as our health is concerned, red wine seems to come out on top in this particular case.
