Sulfites and home wine making

Sulfites (White powder) are used in the process of wine making and it acts as a preservative. The main purpose of Sulfites is to eliminate the ‘vinegar bacteria’ that is found in grapes. Sulfites act by eliminating free sulfur-di-oxide that stalls yeast, mould and bacteria as well.

You don’t need any sulfites with the Home Booze Method because all you need is ready to go juice (Which already has gone through the whole peservation process. We are very happy to eliminate the need for sulfites with the Home Booze kit as some people are allergic to sulfites (Due to lack of production of certain enzymes in their body).

Using sulfites is just another extra step that a beginner wine making enthusiast like you doesn’t need to go through. Our goal was to make Home Booze the easiest alcoholic drink maker and we’ve definitely accomplished that.

Although all wine contain some level of sulfite, it is still considerably low compared to when you physically add more. Almost 95% of home wine making kits out there use sulfites – but not the Home Booze Method.
