Wine in its ultimate popularity can be purchased from just about any local wine store. However if your ever up for some original authenticity and are questioning exactly where your wine comes from, why not check out Napa Valley. Located in Napa County, California, this region has 43,000 acres of grapes planted yearly and has all within a 50 mile radius over 300 wineries. Napa Valley was established as an American viticulture area (ARA) in 1981 and to this day is still considered the top wine area and producing area in the United States.
Having close to five million visitors a year, Napa valley is by no means going to slow or stop wine production and operations anytime soon. With the previously mentioned over 300 wineries, there are just as many luxury overnight accommodations and health spas available throughout the region to accommodate your stay there.
Many tour companies offer multiple day trips to Napa valley to visit many of the bustling towns and wineries. Included in some of these trips are guided tours into wine production facilities, where you are actually able to see first hand, the wine being fermented and produced on a large and grandiose scale.
Other option that many people enjoy is being able to sit down for a small fee (Most always generally included in bus tours) and sample multiple, if not dozens of varieties of wines. Some other possibilities also include touring some of the local caves that exist on the side of a local mountain or even taking a relaxing day and renting a jet-ski to take out on the lake. No matter your wants, needs, or desires, Napa Valley literally seems to have something for everyone year round.
Sometimes, tour company trips are not always the best idea for everyone. Some enjoy being out on there own and not always confined with dozens of people you’ve only met several hours before hand. If this is the case, there is a lot of available information on the internet about all the available possibilities while in Napa Valley. You could however choose to call one of there excellent visitor information centers (there are several located throughout the region), and as of the last time I contacted them for tour information, they were able to send out free guest books and regional information.
When I received it, I was astonished at how heavy all of the material actually was. I received close to 400 pages with listings for hotels, day and evening spas, health spas, winery’s, rental locations for equipment and vehicles, and enough coupons for free wine tasting’s to last 2 people a month. Also included are coupons for discounts at various hotels located throughout the area.
If you ever get a chance, drop by Napa Valley!
